Film: RANDWICK SCREEN & MEDIA STUDENTS 'GOING GLOBAL'
Guest blog by Director of Photography ... PAUL HOWARD
Day 3 - Began with our trip to meet the staff and students at our sister college BMCC Borough of Manhattan Community College. Security was so tight the security guards almost didn't let us in! After a gracious welcome and a brief intro of the college's history, I quickly realized just how big BMCC really is. Located in the Tribecca district, built in the 80's and originally designed for 12000 students. Being two blocks from the twin towers they narrowly escaped a major catastrophe, if a tower had fallen their way. It was the first facility to reopen after the disaster.
They currently cater for 24,000 students, and have nearly 1000 film & TV students in their media section alone. At Randwick, TAFE, we have about 80 students in Screen & Media!
After a tasty lunch provided by the staff, the students began their all important networking with the BMCC film & tv students. BMCC will be our base for lighting equipment, extra crew and a location for the song & dance sequence that will end our film. The afternoon saw us location scouting and having meetings with staff and students, excited to be one step closer to production on our film 'BIG APPLE DREAMING'
Thursday is our first shoot day and we'll begin by shooting a scene in the backstage area of the BMCC theatre.
As the sun set over The Hudson River we took in the sights before dining underneath the new nearly completed, World Trade Centre Tower.
