Film: RANDWICK SCREEN & MEDIA STUDENTS 'GOING GLOBAL'
Guest blog by Director of Photography ... PAUL HOWARD
DAY 1... After months of waiting, our '14 day study tour' to New York finally became a reality. 4 teachers and 10 students from Randwick TAFE Screen & Media dept are in New York as part of the Going Global Initiative to help students network globally for their career advancement.
We are here to attend the Tribecca Film Festival, meet film students from our sister college BMCC (Borough of Manhattan Community College) and collaborate with them on a Rom-Com Musical short film, written by our teams' director PHIL MOORE and I'm on board as Supervising Cinematographer.
So far we've seen Greenwich Village, Central Park, and last night ... Times Square! Everyone is pumped to be here and the energy amongst our small group is enormous. We'll shoot our film "guerilla style" on the streets of NYC, which will make for some quick thinking and exciting film making!
Randwick TAFE students make film in New York
"Our film needs to show iconic NYC, it's a character in the film, so yesterday we surveyed some of the locations for the film. We saw and spoke to three others film crews out shooting, and they gave us some invaluable tips to help us on our shoot. It's going to be logistically very tricky, and we'll be stealing every location, which makes it even more exhilerating!"
