Film Review: MIRROR MIRROR

"MIRROR MIRROR is a fantasy full of humour, spectacular costumes and an enchanting cast."

WHAT'S IT ABOUT?...

A new take on the traditional story of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, where America's sweetheart, Julia Roberts, plays an amusing, vain and self absorbed Queen who rules the kingdom, throwing lavish parties while the good people of the land suffer in poverty. When a handsome Prince arrives and Snow steps up to challenge the Queen, some mad fun is thrown her way, from sword-fighting dwarfs and magic doggie potions to a furry beast of the forrest, with sensitive eyes. Due out: Thur 29 March

IMPRESSED BY...

The costumes are outrageously imaginative, the humour kept coming and the set design is exquisite. Of course Julia Roberts is funny, charismatic and beautiful. And Lily Collins and Armie Hammer are 'strangely' how I imagine Snow and her Prince to be. Armie Hammer is an fascinating actor, he previously played both Winklevoss brothers in The Social Diary.

LEFT ME FEELING...

I was smiling... but then there was an "out of the blue' Bollywood moment - and that was hilarious. I particularly like the scene where the Queen has a beauty treatment.

KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR...

The Queen's assistant, Nathan Lane, who I remember from The Bird Cage as the boyfriend of Robin William's character and The Baker, Mare Winningham, who I remember as the girlfriend of Rob Lowe's character in St Elmo's Fire.

WATCH WITH...

Young girls would be in fairytale heaven with this one. Rated PG
